Writer
These write the story/plot of something and the scripts so the actors know what to say. They write screenplays that films, programmes etc. are based on.
Producer
A person responsible for the financial and managerial aspects of the making of a film, screenplay etc.
Casting Director
The person responsible for assigning roles and which actor/actress will play them in a film or play.
Director
A person who supervises the staff and actors and tells them what to do in a film, play, TV programme etc.
Film Finance
An aspect of film production that occurs during the development and is concerned with determining the potential value of a proposed film.
Camera Operator
Someone who records images to entertain or inform an audience. Camera operators capture a wide range of material for all types of media. Most work in the picture industry or television broadcasting.
Editor
Film editing is the practice of assembling shots into a coherent sequence as well as cutting off film slates, put pieces of a film together and edit dialogue scenes.
Product designer
These are responsible for the visual concept of a film. They identify a design style for sets, lighting, camera angles etc. while working closely to the producer and director.
Marketing
Film marketing is like promoting the film, when a new film is made it has to be advertised to let people know it exists and encourages them to go and see it at a cinema. The way a film is promoted depends on whether the film is successful, films are expensive to make so if people don't buy tickets at the box office to watch the film, money will be lost.
Exhibition
The showing of a film on either a DVD, at the Cinema or online. People can access films at home on DVD, through downloads, television or at the cinema.
